Replacing body fluids lost through training is vital in preventing dehydration. There is no way in minimising the loss of fluids when exercising as it is the bodies method of temperature regulation, this means that you will need to ensure that you are fully hydrated before a session and that you keep topping up throughout the session when possible.
It is advised however, to only ‘drink to your thirst’, as drinking too much can also be detrimental as it dilutes the levels of salt in the blood and can lead to hyponatraemia which is a serious condition!
